I used to always ask myself why those persons who constantly complain about their situations never invested any energy into changing what upsets them. Granted not all things in life we can change but for the most part we can control how things affect us or how frequently we must deal with things. I learned this morning that some persons just ENJOY being miserable!
Now, there are many levels to this realization. Some persons enjoy the misery because they thrive in the attention they gain from a pity party. They love when friends, family and co-workers all contact them, after an over-dramatic facebook post or tweet, asking "hey, how are you?" "whats wrong? "are you okay?". It gives these persons a false sense of importance and to some extent it makes them feel cherished and loved. Could it also be the case that these persons need this attention because they feel very alone in their world?
Let's now introduce the person who remains in misery because of their refusal to any kind of change. These persons never see any reason on how making a tiny change could result in a huge improvement in their life. No matter how you explain to them that this change is necessary for them they never seem to feel convinced enough to want or need to make this change; also some persons are just afraid of change and fear that they would not be able to handle their life. Some persons are just comfortable living with things they already are familiar with as opposed to learning to live with the unfamiliar.
In both situations the person is validated on why they would not want to make any change but how long can a person go living in misery before something tragic happens or they decide to finally accept this change?
